Julie Hamill

Julie Hamill

Hamill Time

Sunday 2-4pm

Julie Hamill is a writer and presenter. She is known internationally for the Morrissey interview biography ’15 Minutes With You’, and her five-star novels ’Frank’ and ‘Jackie’. Currently, she’s writing everything from comedy to charity for a huge variety of clients all over the UK.  She is also writing her next book, the third part of a trilogy.

Julie hosts a regular chat show, London’s Rock n Roll Book Club, doing live interviews with the famous and (not so) rich about their rock biographies. The on-stage show at The Dublin Castle was featured in Time Out as best music book club for two consecutive years in 2018 and 2019. Julie also presents Manchester’s Mozarmy Meet, the biggest fan meet in Europe.  She has appeared on TV and is a regular guest across many different shows and global TV features. Before she became a writer she had a successful career in advertising for fifteen years, which took her to live in New York from 2000-2005.

On Boogaloo, Julie handpicks a leftfield pop and indie tracklist from the 70s/80s/90s chart heartland.  She talks a quirky mix of nostalgia and comedy from that era, whilst poking fun and interacting with the listeners.  Her previous guests have included songwriter Alain Whyte, The Mission’s Wayne Hussey, drummer Andrew Paresi and The Damned’s Brian James  – but most of the time Julie likes to roll solo – it’s Hamill Time.

Julie’s music brain has won quizzes and panels and there’s not much room in there for anything else, except a chunk of mischief.  She’s Scottish and she comes with a nip. Be careful what you tweet her, she’ll say it on the air.
